traditional wearable tech is big, bulky, and geeky. nobody looks good wearing a ginormous smart watch. yet there are times where digging your smart-phone out of a purse or pocket is inconvenient, and you'd love an inconspicuous and convenient way to interface with it.
people use their ears to process an incredible amount of information, and they've been sticking holes through their earlobes for centuries. so it occurred to us that we should design an ear-computing platform, and find a way to shrink the technology down into a form factor about the size of a single pearl. piearcings techno-jewelry combines that tiny computer with studio-grade in-ear monitors (earphones) so that you can listen to your favorite music, chat on the phone, control your smart-phone apps, and even discretely declare an emergency and summon the police — right from your ears. for real.
right now, piearcings are hand-built under microscopes one at a time in our research laboratory in kansas city, mo. we are building them for celebrities and fashionistas, and we are even making a few pre-production pieces we'll be giving away during our 2018 piearcings "self expressions" road tour. if you're interested in what we're inventing and building, check out the dates and locations for our tour stops. we'll be at popular music and film festivals, fine jewelry shows, art openings, and other groovy events throughout the year. or you can opt-in to receive select messages and insider's offers as a part of our pre-sale campaign beginning later this year.
and if you don't have pierced ears? well… we guess you'll have to limp along with a smart watch or augmented reality glasses — bummer. or you can go to the nearest piercing studio and add some fresh holes!
